This was us trying to make our way yesterday from the Nordkapp Tunnel to Honningsvag.

We were going to go for broke and complete the last 150 miles in one go, but at midnight, the weather derailed us. Winds at 20mph and driving rain in 6 degree temps. We are just north of the North Cape Tunnel, 7 km long and plunging to 212 metres below the seabed. Glad we don’t have to repeat that scary section.

Today we reached one of our primary objectives: to cycle 4,500 miles. That landmark occurred just shy of the Norwegian border. We still have a way to go to Nordkapp, but thought it a good point to say that this journey has been about testing ourselves physically as well as mentally, but underlining it all and giving it much more meaning has been the charitable cause. Harrow Club supports young people who, through no fault of their own, have been dealt the short straw in life. These kids are on our doorstep. If you have been inspired by our efforts, or will just be glad in a few days time, that we will stop posting, it would mean a lot to us your donation.

4,330 Miles rode. Yesterday was a rest day in Kabdalis. Today we rode 110 miles to just north of Gallivare, passing Jokkmokk and the artic circle en route. Current temp 6 degrees. The sun 🌞 will not set.

4,220 miles ✅. We still have roughly 500 left. Mixture of rain, cloud and sun today. Navigation easy as we rode on the E45 the whole day. First spotting of reindeer (see pic). Almost no traffic all day. Beautiful here. We are wild.

Not a nice start to today. We woke up to the rainy

Not a nice start to today. We woke up to the rainy prospect in pic 1 from our ‘garden shed’. Weather did not improve throughout the day. My waterproof socks were put to the test and they failed miserably. We made it another near 70 miles north nonetheless and are now in Lapland! Highlight of the day was the BEAR 🐻! Also, we knew it was cold when we noticed the iceberg on the banks of the river. See if you can spot it in the photo.

Started the day about midway up the Swedish Baltic

Started the day about midway up the Swedish Baltic coastline in a town called Ramvik, dovetailed along the coastline to finally reach a place in the woods about 30 km north of Ornskoldsvik. Swedish sun shone today…yeah! But fear it is back to the rain tomorrow. Malin, missed you by a day, but thinking of you in beautiful Ornskoldsvik! 🙂

From Soderhamn to Norrfjarden, 80 miles nearly all directly into the wind and raining….but no gastric problems and a wonderful campsite for the end of the day. Be sure to scroll to the penultimate photo. I think the gravestone is a legit name, but it made both Mark and me chuckle (May he rest in peace)

After finding a great spot to camp last night and having a pretty average bread and cheese supper, went to bed with rain forecast all night and the next morning. Woke at 2 am with a horrible, brain-viced headache as well as stomachache. Tossed and turned for an hour and a bit until the sun rose at 3:20 AM. Got up, went for a walk along the side of the forest lined road. Very nauseous, head still pounding, was sick twice. Sat by the lake crying, knowing we had a 80mile ride today. Mark finally got up. We were 20 miles from a supermarket. Still nauseous and head pounding. What were the options? RIDE—that was it. Took it slowly, head pounding the whole way and nausea still flaring. A few tears. Made it to supermarket and had two cokes and a paracetamol. Headache finally eased a bit, but nausea still there. Rode in silence. The rain came. Then it rained harder. Kept riding until we made it to the equestrian centre in Soderhamn. Basic, but warm and dry. Positives? Rain accentuâtes the fragrance of the hedges of amazing lilacs that adorn the ride sides here in beautiful Sweden. Lily of the valley also was in the air. The big lorries that went by and splashed us usually had freshly cut pine—also accentuating the scent. That was my day. Forgot to mention the flat tyre…. Hope you had a better one
